Meet Tanya!
Hi there! My name is tanya (she/her), and I am a queer south asian woman based in the greater seattle area! My journey into birth work began in my public health classes in my undergraduate studies where I was particularly interested in reproductive health. The disparities in perinatal health didn't sit right with me, thus I started looking into becoming a doula. I strongly believe that each individual has the right to bodily autonomy, to make their own choices, & to be heard.
As your doula, I am here to support your birth journey by helping you prepare for birth, feel empowered, & serve you in way that feels the most safe + authentic to you! As a person of color with a chronic illness, I know firsthand how difficult it is to feel heard and understood by the health care system. I come into this work with an evidence based approach and align myself with anti-racist, HAES (health at every size), gender affirming & trauma informed care.
In my free time, you can find me in seattle coffee shops, cooking with friends, hosting craft nights, at a concert, or being cozy at home with my two fur babies (chai & earl)!
So excited to meet you!
silly things about me!
love live music (my favorite genres are indie/alternative + we can definitely work on making a playlist for your birth)
love tea over coffee (hence the cat names)
will cry watching any PIXAR movie (ratatouille is my favorite)
cancer sun/aries moon/capricorn rising (for my astrology people)
a Sanskrit term meaning selfless service
I wanted to be very intentional about picking a name that embodies my values & roots. I landed on seva, meaning selfless service; a word rooted in Sanskrit that is used in Marathi (one of India’s 22 official languages & the language I speak)!
 ✿
seva is about offering compassionate care without expecting anything in return, which to me is what being a doula is all about! I will be there to support your birth journey by being the calm & steady presence you deserve.
